I saw it and thought that’s not real.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — She’s the latest reality TV star for VH1 and now Big Ang has a brand-new “secret” she’s willing to share.
Big Ang’s Secret, a combination beauty salon and store, was hopping Friday night, as a film crew documented the sneak peek. (The official opening is next month.)
The sweet spot, located at 1880 Hylan Blvd. in Dongan Hills, showcases the ultimate items any woman needs if she wants to emulate the reality TV beauty renowned for her puffy, pouty big lips, throaty voice and sexy fashions.
“It’s all my secrets to looking good,” said the 52-year-old star, noting that women constantly ask her to divulge her tips.
Big Ang, aka Angela Raiola, has been riding high ever since her Season Two appearance on VH1’s Staten Island-based “Mob Wives” and now has her own hit show, “Big Ang,” which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on VH1.
As regards the salon, “It’s everything you want to know that Big Ang does to stay young,” said her sister, Janine Detore, another star on “Big Ang,” who has a children’s apparel store, the Country Mouse, in West Brighton.
The salon features organic spray tanning, eyelash and hair extensions, eyebrow threading, makeup, facials and accessories that in Big Ang fashion offer lots of Bling! Bling! Bling! That includes glass cases holding plenty of large-sized crystallized jewelry — including crystal Big Ang lips on blingy rings and bracelets. Prices range from $20 for rings to as much as $400 for tricked-out crystal evening bags.
“It’s what Staten Island really needs,” said Arlene Severet of Bay Ridge, but who grew up in Dongan Hills, and who said she appreciates that Big Ang “seized the opportunities” that came her way to become such a success.
“It’s over-the-top,” gushed Salvatore Forte of Bay Ridge, the site’s interior designer, who loaded the store with such requisites as “a big chair and lots of feathers.”
Looking around the place, “It just screams ‘me’,” said the star, a mother of two who has a 4-year-old grandson.
Topping off the decorations, which include a white, tiger-striped rug, was a gigantic, larger-than-life pair of big pink lips painted by the Island’s own Scott Lobaido.
The event also packed some local celebrity punch, including Renee Graziano, star of Mob Wives, “Big Ang” stars and friends, Jennifer Patafio, aka Little Jen, and Anthony Cracchiolo, who also owns Anthony’s Pizza Pasta Perfect next door.
Not only does Big Ang have her own show and salon, she also runs the popular Drunken Monkey bar in West Brighton, has her own murals across the city and will be releasing a book in September.
As for the show, Jennifer Graziano of JustJenn Productions, “Mob Wives’” creator and executive producer, and sister to star Renee Graziano, couldn’t confirm or deny that “Big Ang” has been renewed for a second season, but noted viewers should hang on for the finale, which includes a surprise for Big Ang.
“The finale will be big,” she vowed.
